Get in Shape at Brooklyn’s Buzziest Hot Power Yoga Studio
Summer is coming (supposedly): Switch up that workout routine and take a hot power yoga class at Tangerine, a very chill, spotless studio space located just down the block from The Wheeler. Owner Tamara Behar opened the doors in April 2015, after a visualizing exercise five years earlier put the idea in her mind that this was her calling.
TANGERINE: NOT YOUR AVERAGE YOGA STUDIO NAME. WHAT’S THE STORY THERE?
I once read that a tangerine is defined as being “sweeter and stronger” than an orange. And that’s it for me, it’s how I practice and live my life: Finding balance in strength and sweetness.
WHY DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN?
I’ve lived here since 2000; it’s home. And we are close to everywhere: The subways, the residential neighborhoods.
SO, WHY DO HOT POWER YOGA? OVER, SAY, NOT-HOT POWER YOGA?
You get a detox while you work out. It’s not extreme; it’s just a little hot. Like a warm summer day.
Sounds glorious.
