Why Leave The City When You Can Go To Habana Outpost For A Brooklyn Love Affair?

Neon decor, eco-conscious Mexican and Cuban food, and festive frozen drinks abound at the Fort Greene outpost of Habana, a mini-empire of community-building restaurants helmed by philanthropist and entrepreneur Sean Meenan. Sean opened the iconic Cafe Habana in NoLiTa over twenty years ago, and has since expanded to Brooklyn, Malibu and Dubai, with a New Orleans-based location opening soon. Across from Habana Outpost sits the Brooklyn Love Building — Sean’s commercial space and love letter to the borough, festooned with a large mural of the Notorious B.I.G. and a transcription of his famous lyric, “Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way” across the facade.

The vibe: Lively, communal, multi-generational, unpretentious, and fun! A one-stop Brooklyn staycation.

The drinks: Ice cold draft beers, tropical frozen margs, and delicious sangrias.

The food: Roast pork and catfish burritos stuffed with grilled veggies in giant flour tortillas, grilled Mexican street corn with cojita cheese, chili and lime, generous plates of grilled shrimp with guacamole, rice and beans… and the list goes on. It’s the ultimate summer menu.
