About Coffee Gets Right To The Point

Hany Mohammed opened About Coffee in Downtown Brooklyn because of a love of coffee and a love of the neighborhood. Both of these facts are apparent at his little cafe on State Street, his second shop after originally opening a location in SoHo almost three years ago.  A steady stream of commuters breeze in and out of the sunny spot for oat milk lattes, cold brews, and plain ol’ drip. There are pastries from Bien Cuit, Du’s Donuts, and One Girl Cookies, which are all Brooklyn-based businesses. A well-edited menu, indeed.

The white walls and minimalist Scandinavian furniture serve as the perfect backdrop for a rotating collection of colorful local art. Some black-and-white pieces by his wife, Miran, are hung permanently. They’re all for sale, like the custom-blended bags of coffee beans from Gimme! Coffee.
